I’ve attended Miami Carnival as a child and as an adult for many years, making carnival a natural part of my life. But this year, I attended Carnival in Trinidad! I finally did it! I played mas in the land that gave us soca, calypso, and steelpan. 

I grew up in a big family where even trips to Walmart felt like an event, yet I enjoy traveling solo. And recently, I realized that I actually prefer to travel solo… besides, you can be your company and you will find your people on the way.

The Land of Eternal Spring has me questioning my love for water. I’m a Scorpio (water sign), I go to the beach every chance I get, I’m from an island. I grew up surrounded by water. I LOVE water, but Guatemala, you planted some new thoughts in my mind when I hear the question, “If you had to choose: mountains or ocean?” I was initially answering the question from experience, not realizing I had never experienced the mountains. Guatemala has been a breath of fresh air, beautiful views, amazing weather, and a new chance to say yes.

This year, I celebrated my birthday in Africa with 11 strangers and it was the hands down BEST birthday gift I could’ve given myself. I’m not saying you HAVE to go on a group trip, but I am saying if you’re thinking about it, do it.

Every time I come back from a trip, I get asked the same two questions. The first one is always “HOW WAS IT?!” Then after I share my newest travel photos and some highlights, the second question is much quieter. The second one is, “How do you do it?”

An impromptu trip with my sister turned into a destination I believe everyone should visit at least once in your lifetime; AND I’m 100% positive that it won’t be a one-and-done kind of deal.

This is not your average travel blog. However, I do still travel. It’s one of my main priorities in life because I don’t believe we were gifted with this world to not explore it. This pandemic (that we’re still in) has made traveling MUCH more difficult.

Road trips aren’t my thing. I started driving late, so it took me a while to get the hang of it. The first long drive I ever made was to Houston, TX and I never wanted to do it again. Sitting in the car for hours was boring and the humming of the car made me sleepy. A terrible combination.

Most people hate moving. The whole process is tedious, especially trying to live/work in the midst of packing and unpacking. I’m not one of those people.

A lot of people (you know who you are) were judge-y about traveling during the pandemic. Hell, at times, I was judging myself…
